There
is something mythical in the America's perception of the
small town. The mystical attachment to the land begins
here. People are nicer, friendlier, more helpful. Life is
slower and less complicated. A small town consists of its
war memorial, its post office, and its history. I am aware that most American presidents come from small towns. Perhaps we vote for them because we know them. We picture them at the swimming hole, the church supper, and the town meeting.

The FAA provides this great site of weathercams all over Alaska. Just click on the map and you are transported to settlements from Sitka in the south to Anaktuvuk Pass in the north; from Lena Point in the east to Scammon Bay in the west. | ||||
| Alameda, California | This site bills itself as the first telerobotic webcam in the San Francisco Bay area. I don't know about that, but I do know it's been around a long time. I used to have it listed back in 1996 but somehow lost track of it. Now I am returning it to its rightful place...you see, I'm really a sensitive guy. | ||||
| Arcata Plaza Cam | The California north coast is the location for Arcata a small town with a nice plaza. They claim that the Arcata plaza is one of the few remaining in California. If that is true it is a shame. Anyway, it's nice Americana. | ||||
