Although
the sea was an important part of living in Massachusetts,
I did not live along the shore. I grew up about 25 miles
inland. I used to swim in the headwaters of the Neponset
River. The names Neponset Reservoir, Lake Pearl,
Lakeview, and Lake Mirimichi bring back memories of
happy, lazy summers when I had no cares in the world.

Low Road. |
