One day while I was home alone a child's toy began to play music all by itself. This was unnerving. I was on the second floor, the toy on the first. For the toy to play its little tune you needed to flip a switch. The switch was so stiff that we seldom ever played the music. Yet, the music was playing. I turned it off, examining the switch to see if it was set halfway between off and on. It was in the full on position.

Once I was laying in bed in a semi-sleep when I saw a man enter the bedroom.  He came and hovered over me and pointed at a crack in the horsehair plaster above my headboard.  "Fix it!", he said.  I sat up and looked around.  He was gone.  I looked up at the wall and saw the crack for the first time. My wife had a similar experience when she fell asleep on the livingroom sofa. She was awakened by a man entering the room. She called out to him thinking he was me.  The man looked at her and vanished.
