I grew up in Massachusetts where there is a long and
cherished tradition of men who go down to the sea. In a
less politically correct time we proudly listened to the
tales of whaling ships and China trade.
I know the sadness of a sailor lost and the joy of a
child building a sand castle on the beach. Peek at the
wild strands and remember the ships that ne'er return.
