Pikes Peak Pikes Peak is America's Mountain a silly tourist phrase that manages to exclude such American icons as Mt. Washington (see above), Mt. Rainier, Mt. Rushmore and countless other peaks whose great profiles are known regionally or nationally. It is beautiful, though, and well worth viewing. This is taken from the Softronics building in Colorado Springs, a community noted for the Air Force Academy, and U.S. Olympians.

This from the webssite: "With a diameter of 15m the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) is the largest astronomical telescope in the world designed specifically to operate in the submillimeter wavelength region of the spectrum." It sits up on the volcano Mauna Kea on the big island of Hawaii. View the weather at one of the highest astronomical sites in the world.

Mt. Washington Observatory On my things to do list: take out the garbage, buy groceries, climb Mt. Washington. This view is from the weather station at the summit of Mt.Washington, the highest peak in the Northeastern United States and one of the most extreme weather places in the world.
