When I was a boy I loved to read
stories about the great explorers. I was
enthralled with the idea of going to far off
places and seeing sites never seen by the white
man before. I imagined myself on archeological
expeditions to the jungles of Africa,
MesoAmerica, India, or southeast Asia. I scaled
the highest mountains in search of lost Tibetan
or Incan cities. I braved the harsh desert heat
and fierce sandstorms to find the next Babylon.
Sometimes I was an arctic explorer, a new
Amundsen or Byrd. Other times I joined Cousteau
at the bottom of the sea. I flew new air routes
with Lindberg and blasted into space with Gagarin
and Glenn. This site is dedicated to those brave men and women, my heroes. |

| Large Binocular Telescope Enclosure
|
The telescope is located on Mt. Graham in
southern Arizona and consists of 2 mirrors whose combined light gathering strength is
equivilent to a 22 meter mirror. |
| Tate Satellite Live
|
The Tate is known for
its large collection of British art and as the definitive
gallery of contemporary modern art. It also has a camera
400 km above the Earth in a polar orbit that completes an
orbit in 99 minutes and a circumnavigation of the globe
in 15 orbits. |
| Santa Claus Live
|
I have always
thought that Santa lived at the North Pole, but
perhaps I am wrong. Afterall, the pole is simply
a frozen spot in a frozen sea. There is no
substance here except the relentless cold and the
thick, crackling ice. Perhaps it makes more sense
that he lives at the Arctic Circle where there is
rock on which to place his foundation. This site
is in Lapland, 8 km north of the city of
Rovaniemi, Finland. It has three cameras. The
first is Santa's Office, next the workshop, and
last, the view of Santa's village. |
| Lovell Telescope
|
Jodrell Bank Observatory in England has a great historical
importance to the development of radio telescopy in the 20th century. You can view the Lovell
telescope from this site. Additionally you can see the seven meter student telescope. A link to
Jodrell Bank live gives you a status of all the telescopes under the Jodrell Bank Observatory. |
| United Kingdom Infrared Telescope
|
On the dormant volcano Mauna Kea on the big
island of Hawaii a group of some of the most sophisticated telescopes in the world look
for other worlds and mysteries of the cosmos. This site shows the summit and the United
Kingdom Infrared Telescope. |
| Old Faithful
|
Many years ago I took a trip to
the National Parks of the US West. One of the things I saw was an eruption of Old
Faithful, a geyser of some reknown in Yellowstone Park. The area around the geyser is
an interesting mix of thermal ducts and bacteria of many colors. Watch the steaming hot
water as it blows forth at more or less regular time intervals. |
| Yellowstone Webcams
|
I took a trip to
the Yellowstone National Park. My wifewants to go back. This site will show you why. |
| NASA Cams
| A great collection of sites from
the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. This site updates
as events change. Enjoy the people who bring you the final frontier. |
| SETICam
|
From the giant radio
telescope at Arecibo, Puerto Rico we bring you images
of the men and women who search for signs of extraterrestrial
intelligence. Scanning the skies for atypical radio waves
they sift through static for a cosmic rosetta. |
| The Solar And Heliospheric
Observatory
|
This site is
truly out of this world. See the latest images of
the sun from the SOHO satellite. These images are
courtesy of SOHO/EIT, SOHO/LASCO consortium. SOHO
is a project of international cooperation between
ESA and NASA. |
| Geostationary Satellite

These shots of
the Atlantic, Pacific, with zoom ins for Alaska,
Hawaii, and Puerto Rico are updated hourly. Great
for tracking North American weather. |

Six views of the Space Station Processing Facility

| Antarctica |
These are
Australian Research bases on Antartica. Remember,
if it's Summer down there; it's Winter in the
northern hemisphere. I know that it may seem
elementary but there are people who don't
know...so I tell them. |

This site is a
remote site at the remotest part of the
planet...the South Pole. |
